Ask Athena #2

What is your advice when you have a friend that you love to death but gets all your nerves at the same time? -NoName

Dear,  NoName

Believe it or not, this is a problem that people run into alot. You love being friends with someone but they sometimes get on your nerves. The next time your friend is doing something that annoys you step back and figure out why this gets on your nerves. Is there something they did that irked you a bit that you still can’t get over? Or are they just playing at a pet peeve you have? Once you realize why your friends actions are aggravating you, try to remember why you’re friends with them. This might help lighten the annoyance a bit. If it doesn’t help, try talking to your friend about this problem. Hopefully together you can come up with a compromise and maybe even strengthen your friendship.

I have a girlfriend, but there’s a girl that I really like here at NEAAAT. My girlfriend doesn’t go to this school, but I don’t want to hurt her. What should I do? (I hope this isn’t too boring or old haha) -Iceberg

Dear, Iceberg

If you like someone, you like someone; there’s nothing you can really do to change that. Liking this girl could be a sign that you are over your girlfriend. Maybe this girl has some characteristics you wish your girlfriend had. Either way, it’s definitely a good idea to think about your feelings before making decisions.

Next time you are around the girl at NEAAAT, think about how she makes you feel. You might realise the feelings you have aren’t as genuine as you think. Next, when you are with your girlfriend, think about how she makes you feel. If you feel like you were comfortable with the NEAAAT girl more, it might be time for you to break up with your girlfriend. Just make sure the person you like is worth ending your relationship with your girlfriend. Explain to her that it wasn’t anything she did wrong, that you just didn’t feel like you could be supportive enough for your relationship. If you felt more comfortable around your girlfriend, then maybe the feelings you had around the girl from NEAAAT were just qualities you’ve always wanted a friend of your to have. You definitely have a lot to think about and I hope I’ve help you break down your thinking some. Good Luck!

Love, Athena
