Everyone says Rose saw the beauty in everything, that she was kind to all, and did what was right for Earth. I, however, think that this is just one side of Rose. The only side that they saw. I actually think Rose was not so great of a person, or gem, for that matter. Don’t believe me? Just think about it. What part of Rose did everyone else see? The part where she created Steven? Or where she grew moss? Even the part where she cared for the members of her team. We saw how she protected Earth, and how she let Garnet be a fusion– I believe that this is only one part of Rose. You may not have noticed some things that don’t exactly make her the gem that everyone portrays her to be. (more…)
Schizophrenia is a disorder that affects a person’s ability to think, feel, and behave. Schizophrenia affects people differently. Some might have hallucinations, while others may hear voices. Those with this disorder have to deal with these things whether they like it or not. They lose all sense of reality and are basically living in a “fairytale”. Many people with schizophrenia have to live like this because they don’t believe anything is wrong with them —they believe everything is fine. Those who don’t get help with this disorder usually go onto become homeless (6%) or are put away in homes that will treat them with the help they desperately need. (more…)
Einstein’s Riddle or the Five Houses Riddle is said to have been invented by Einstein. He said that ninety-eight percent of the world would not be able to solve it. Though this is only a myth, this riddle is exceptionally hard to solve. It is a logic puzzle that makes “solvers” use simple (so it seems until you try it) deduction. It took me about an hour to solve this riddle so you may take less time or more time, it depends on how concentrated you are. (more…)
Happy New Year NEAAAT! I can’t believe that it is already 2017! Only 18 weeks (90 school days) until summer! Time does fly when you’re having fun. Speaking of time flying… have you ever heard of the Butterfly Effect? Well, the Butterfly Effect, also known as “sensitive dependence on initial conditions”, is a concept where small events now can have larger effects in the future. Scientists call it The Butterfly Effect because a man named Edward Lorenz suggested that “ a flap of a butterfly’s wings might ultimately cause a tornado”. This concept is commonly used in writing and literature. It normally ties into the theme of time travel. (more…)

It can be complicated to define a genre as wide and broad as Science Fiction being that we have more than six-thousand years of literary history with almost all of it dealing with fantastic elements. Science Fiction is widely thought to have branched from the Fantasy genre. In early history, literature focused on gods and beings with godlike powers, this is evident in popular literature like Homer’s Odyssey and the Iliad, written in this time. However, during the 17th through 19th centuries literature changed for the average reader in both Europe and America. (more…)

Harambe was a 17-year-old gorilla, who was born in 1999 and died in 2016, causing all of the memes and jokes you see today. They will probably die out before the year ends. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Harambe just as much as the next guy, but really? Are all these jokes and memes necessary? Harambe was 440 pounds and is best known for his death, that was caused by a mother letting her kid fall into the gorilla cage. (more…)
Over the summer, my family adopted a puppy Maltipoo (Maltese + Poodle). He was almost 8 weeks old when we brought him home, but I wanted to know exactly how old my cutie-pawtooty was. This got me thinking about how dog years are calculated.
