NBA Trade Controveries

As the trade deadline approaches, the NBA has had quite a few players get a change of scenery, and many more have been involved in trade rumors. These kind of trades and moves of players can drive die hard fans crazy. Trades in the NBA are also a very scary conversation with general managers.

The biggest trade that has occurred since December was the move of the sharp-shooting shooting guard, Kyle Korver from the Atlanta Hawks to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Korver was traded for point guard Mo Williams, small forward Mike Dunleavy, and a protected 2019 first round pick. After the trade was made, the players had a total of 72 hours to arrive to their new teams, two of the players involved in the trade did so, the other, Mike Dunleavy, took 67 hours to report to Atlanta Hawks home base at Philips Arena.

The one player that every fan of the NBA was excited to hear in trade talks was Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks. Anthony, the small forward for the Knicks was allegedly put out for a trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers, which was rejected later. Anthony, a primal player in the NBA, has amazing abilities to change the course of a game quickly and is a playmaker that Cleveland could definitely use. The only reason that the offer for Anthony was rejected was because the offer would’ve meant the Cavaliers would have to give up All-Star power forward, Kevin Love.

There is a new trade rumor spreading, the player that is on the line is Kirk Hinrich, point guard for the Atlanta Hawks. Hinrich, 33, is one of the older point guards in the league that can still consistently provide the leadership on the court coming off the bench. Hinrich has a lot of interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers, as the Cavaliers are looking for a “playmaker” that Lebron James would like to work with.

Surfacing around the league lately, there is talk of a potential new ‘Big Three’ forming in Los Angeles, but only if two trades are made. The trades would have to be for one, versatile scorer, Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the best defender and rebounder in the league, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans. The trade rumor is that these two will play with the Los Angeles Lakers, but the third member of the ‘Big Three’ is already there, D’Angelo Russell. Russell is the quick young gun point guard for the Lakers. This rumor is leaving opposing teams and general managers extremely scared.
