Origin of Cerberus

You descended and boated through the river Styx where your judgment for the rest of your life awaits in the underworld. You dreadfully, sluggishly, and slowly walk with the crowd to decide to go the Fields of Asphodel, Elysium, or if you have truly done bad to the world, the Fields of Punishments. You hope for Elysium, or even the Fields of Asphodel when you see him. He towers over you, growling and snarling from three heads! You look up to the three heads, and you’re terrified, one wrong step and you have no chance. You recognize him, Cerberus. The guard of the Greek Underworld. How did he originate you ask? You didn’t ask? Well, here is the origin of this beast of a dog!

ALIENS @ NEAAAT???!!! (And How To Spot Them)

Hello, readers, it’s your favorite inquisitive journalist back with another report on the strange happenings at NEAAAT. I’ve warned you about vampires and ghosts, but now there is something far more, out of this world lurking around the halls at our school. One of our very own staff members could possibly be an alien. Now, I’m not a snitch, so I won’t tell you who this teacher is, but I will give you some warning signs to look out for.

A Brief History of Science Fiction

It can be complicated to define a genre as wide and broad as Science Fiction being that we have more than six-thousand years of literary history with almost all of it dealing with fantastic elements. Science Fiction is widely thought to have branched from the Fantasy genre. In early history, literature focused on gods and beings with godlike powers, this is evident in popular literature like Homer’s Odyssey and the Iliad, written in this time. However, during the 17th through 19th centuries literature changed for the average reader in both Europe and America. (more…)

Farrago Chapter #1

Even though the foul smell of the station is enough to make any person’s face scrunch up, the subway is the easiest way to get around New York City. The people in the station all have their heads down as they push through the crowd to get to their destination. Neither Andrew or I, stand out in the crowd of people who stare at the ground. Our movements are just as hurried and purposeful as the rest of the busy people. (more…)

Organized Madness #4

To preface this, I will say that having topics prepared is a wonderful blessing that you should never take for granted.

I assume that anyone here reading this was looking for it specifically and has lamented its absence in recent times, though what strange tastes one would have to have to seek out this kind of insanity that I spew forth from my maw atop this digital soapbox of mine I haven’t the foggiest, seeing as how I, the creator of this contemptible amalgamation of words that vaguely make sense when put together and at the same time end up frighteningly close to pure madness that is being referred to as an “article,” to the insult of the word article, and even the idea of an article, hold this manuscript of insanity in the highest orders of contempt, and always regard it with complete disdain for its sporadic and unpredictable, yet wholly predictable, oxymoronic and occasionally outright hypocritical assemblage of words and phrases that it molds around “news stories” and injects with purified filler. Topics in Natural Science: Psychology

This time, because I have a very loose definition of what is “natural science”, I want to talk about a certain topic that I’m most interested in: psychology. Psychology is basically the study of how your brain is wired. I’ll be skimming the surface of psychology this issue, because the topic is very advanced and branches off in many different directions. We’ll focus on two facts that I have found to be most relatable at our crazy teenage years. (more…)
